The Sheridans hosted a lavish garden party with elaborate decorations, delicious food, and lively music of a band. However, the efforts of the people-servants, marquee workers, and the band who were responsible to make the party a grand success, went unacknowledged. But Laura, unlike her family, asked her father whether the members of the band could be given something to drink. It showed her kind-heartedness and concern for the working class people. This was in contrast with Mrs. Sheridan’s show of generosity as she sent a basket of leftover food from the party to Mr Scott’s house so that the food didn’t go to waste. This clearly indicates that Laura is different from other Sheridans and emphasizes her humane feelings.
